customized shading solution

The Challenge

This project required a highly customized shading solution across multiple architecturally distinct spaces within a world-class cultural institution. Certain areas, such as a glass-enclosed meeting room, required precise control of natural light while also allowing full blackout for presentations.

The Solution

Brading created a fully customized solution that combines advanced materials, digital fabrication, and precision engineering. The artist's designs were digitally printed onto specialized sunscreen fabrics. In the meeting room, a dual-layer shading system was installed within a challenging ceiling pocket, integrating sunscreen and blackout roller blinds. Motorized mechanisms were included to ensure smooth, quiet operation suitable for sensitive environments.

The Outcome

The final result delivered precise light control while preserving the architectural and artistic integrity of the space. The alignment of custom-printed materials created a cohesive visual feature, and the dual-function shading systems provided flexibility for both daily use and specialized functions. Selected as the shading partner for a globally significant institution, Brading executed a complex project that demonstrated craftsmanship, precision, and coordination at a museum-quality level.
