Our History

It Started with a Problem. It Became the Standard.

Brading was established in 1979 by Ed Bonisch, during an era when energy efficiency was transitioning from a concept to a critical necessity. Inspired by the energy crisis of the 1970s, Ed identified a significant opportunity to address heat loss and solar gain through high-performance window treatments. His pioneering vision to focus on Window Quilt, was one of the only CMHC-certified thermal shade system available at the time, setting an early benchmark for effective enegy efficient shading solutions.

This foundational dedication to smart, intentional innovation has remained a constant throughout Brading's evolution. As the industry advanced, so did we. Brading was at the forefront of motorized shading, custom integration with home automation, and the engineering of bespoke systems for uniquely shaped or large-scale windows. When off-the-shelf solutions proved inadequate, we engineered our own, resulting in proprietary innovations such as Laudation and SolaraShade.

Today, Brading continues to lead in technical expertise, custom fabrication, and comprehensive project execution. Our advanced shading systems are integral to luxury homes, iconic commercial skyscrapers, distinguished hospitality venues, and cherished heritage buildings across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
