Astirium Shades
The Challenge
This project required a modern shading solution that provided both privacy and light control while aligning with the designer's preferred aesthetic. The selected style was a zebra-type shade, which was not available in standard Lutron offerings. In addition, the builder had not pre-wired the home, limiting motorized integration during installation.
The Solution
Brading created a custom shading system using its proprietary “Astirium” zebra fabric, which features sheer and opaque bands for adjustable visibility and light control. The system uses Lutron motors, combining hardwired and battery-powered options to compensate for the lack of pre-wiring. This design offers installation flexibility while ensuring consistent performance and reliability.
The Outcome
The result was a clean, contemporary shading solution that provided full flexibility in light control while precisely aligning with the designer's vision. Brading successfully adapted both the material and motorization systems to meet design and construction constraints, demonstrating flexibility and product innovation.
